2400 N. Lakeview Studio Renovation

A full renovation of a 500 square foot studio inside one of Mies van der Rohe's lakefront towers, designed around a single question: what does every square foot of a small footprint actually need to do.

A single wall of custom oak millwork holds the kitchen, closet, and a built-in Murphy bed, compressing three rooms' worth of program into one run of casework so the rest of the unit stays open and flexible throughout the day. Materials draw directly from Mies's own vocabulary: a base reveal beneath the cabinetry, stainless steel countertops, and terrazzo flooring underfoot. Furnishings include a Barcelona chair and Mies barstools, warmed by intentional lighting that keeps the unit feeling like a home rather than a showpiece
